The patch must be extended 6\u201d to 1\u2019 past the damaged asphalt area to ensure a full repair.<\/p>\n<p>The edges of a patch are clearly marked, sawcut, or milled out to remove the damaged asphalt completely, cleaned, sprayed with tack coat, paved with a new binder and\/or surface course of asphalt and compacted.<\/p>\n<p>It is standard practice for us to crackfill the edges afterwards to protect against water entering the new patch at the new sawcut or milled joints that were created.
